VTEC is the variable valve timing electronic control or something like that, i can't remember what the acronym stands for. but anyways, VTEC was created by honda and basically when your crank hits up around 5 grand, the VTEC adjusts the rocker systems so taht the valves lift up even more which means more gas and air thus delivering more power. that vtec system is only available for hondas and acuras tho. like freaky said, toyota owners have the VVT-i system. that vtec thing was just a joke on my part lol.

It looks liek a motorla cell phone unit from the early 90's micro tac series brains.
It could be aftermarket or oem ,
Do you have a cradle for a cell phone in your armrest?
Do you have a mic on teh steering wheel?
Are their phone buttons opposite the cruise control ?
If yes to any of the last 3 then it is probably an oem lexus one.
After looking at the pics again, it is an audiovox unit and since it is falling down it is not oem as well.
Probably an aftermarket brain for a phone from days gone by.
Disconnect the harnesses and put t on ebay.
lol
BTW next time a little more info would help from being ragged on.
Like year of your car, approx where it is ,how big,any wires and writing?
stuff like that.
