Cool L-sport's ES300

L-Sport,
I have a 1992 SC300 and i was wondering how u did the LEXUS deal on the front bumper. Did u just buy a LEXUS emblem and drill the holes to put it on? My car would look like **** w/ a license plate on the front but i wouldn't mind having a LEXUS emblem up there.

P.S. I think it looks a whole lot better than a reg. license plate, and it is a lot cheaper than those $95 little license plates that almost every LX470 has.

Default Lexus license plate replacement

No, I didn't need to drill holes on my bumper. I used the logo to cover up some holes. My car had 4 holes on the front, 2 for the license plate and 2 for the ugly plastic mounting frame that came stock with the car. I used 2 little come cap for the outer holes and the Lexus letters to cover the inner holes. The Lexus letters come with plastic rods that stick out from the back, this is to drop it in the preexisting holes on your trunk lid. Some I guess even come without the rods, either way you only need the self adhesive tape that the logo comes with to mount it. If it has rods on the back just take a good pair of metal clippers and clip them of, or a dremel tool, or even a utility knife. What ever you have that will do the trick. Once again just get a logo without the rods in the back or find one that is already flat on the back and peel of the red film from the sticky back and you place it on vary carefully. Wipe the area first with rubbing alcohol to clean the surface because if you don’t get a clean mounting surface you will lose it on the freeway! Make sure it goes on straight, once it's on it's on. If you make a mistake, or mount it crooked your screwed! You measure it on the bumper to get it centered or what ever then mark the corners with a dry erase marker so you can mount it perfectly straight.

Removal
1. You have to remove it from the bumper vary carefully heating up the glue with a hair drier.

2. Take of all the 3M double stick tape left over on the back of the logo

3. Go buy a small roll of 3M double stick tape. (This is the same thing that comes on all car emblems. (Red looking roll at any home depot of even car parts store like pep boys)

4. Cut little pieces to fit the back of the logo then peal the film off and stick it on again.

I had to do this process, but not because I put it on wrong, but because I got a used one, from my friend’s junkyard. I had to clean it up and cut my own double stick tape carefully to line the back of the logo. I then use a dry erase marker to mark the spot I would put it. I took my time and it came out good. If you have any more questions about this post here on the forum I check it quite often. Be careful to remove logos it can take of paint if your not careful, or blister the paint with the hair dryer, if you don’t have patients and you’re not a perfectionist don’t try it. Have a professional hook you up.
