Default RPM goes from near 2000 and drops to 0

I normally start my car and it goes to 2000 and then drops to 1200...normally, every single day. I sit in my car and get situated for 90 seconds while this does this. This morning I didn't wait for it to come down and put it into gear moved my car to the other side of the street and 15 minutes later, came out to start it and it rose to 2000 and dropped to 0. No funny noises or anything.

1999 ES 300 112K miles.

Help!

Idle control
Fuel system
MAF (what is this)
Power steering
Vacuum
Hoses
Negative battery cable

Help!!!!

Hey denise, sorry to hear you've got all these problems, i've got three questions for you tho.

1. it drops to zero as in the car turns off??? or the car still runs but the tach just goes to zero??

2. starts off at 2000 and then drops down to 1200 to idle??? that is definately way too high, something is definately wrong with your car. when i first start up my car, it hops up to about 1600, then it drops down to 700-800.

3. you've got this list at the bottom of your post, what are you trying to make of it? are you asking? stating? please clarify.

Yes and it drops to zero and the car turns off.

It started this morning and now it does drop to 700-800...

The list is of ideas on what it could be.

Lots of factors, dirty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor (sensor that reads airflow through the intake, works w/ECU to calibrate air/fuel ratio mixtures and etc, bad O2 sensor, bad idle control valve.

You can check with yotarepair.com for great tips on what symptoms to look for.
