I took my wife's 2000 RX300 [ 48,000 miles ] in for the oil/filter change yesterday morning and had them check for the oil leak I had mentioned. The service advisor said that the engine had a rear crankshaft seal leak. They had the parts, took it in immediately, gave me a 2004 ES 330 loaner car, and said it would be completed by 5:00. I cruised the dealership at 4:30 to check on it and they were just getting it out of the car-wash department. The service director told me that this happens periodically but usually with AWD cars and the vehicles they repair are usually the ones still covered by New Car or Certified warranty. He told me that an oil leak doesn't bother most owners when THEY have to pay the $600-$700 for the repair. Charles Barker Lexus in Virginia Beach has been great to do business with from the initial visit to find a car right through yesterday, even if they don't have a buffet and charge $90.00 for an oil change! What I was also impressed with was the 2004 ES 330 loaner car. With a sticker of $35,000 this car was very quiet, comfortable, smooth, and performed extremely well. The audio system with 6-disk changer was also great. Although the ES 330 is a great value my wife still prefers her RX; easier manuvering and higher seating position.

When I first read this post, I thought I was going to move it to the RX forum, but overall it came down to your observations of the ES loaner. Glad to hear you enjoyed the loaner experience, and even more so the business with your dealership

Originally I screwed up by posting it in the wrong forum, tried to get it shifted to the RX forum, but decided that it really did contain apppretiative comments about the ES. So I posted it in the RX forum also. I still think that the ES 330 is the most value for the money offered by ANY manufacturer.
