Question

price? Where did you get it done? I shamefully admit I haven't addressed the problem as of yet and your symptoms sound exactly like mine.

well, the job is a pretty serious job, as the flywheel is right at the heart of the engine so a lot of stuff has to be taken apart, i paid about $800 for parts & labor

you can probably get a better deal if you try look around which i did not do, i've learned my lesson since

good luck, let me know how it goes

If the rattling noise gets faster when pressing on the gas then its more than likely a water pump depending on the mileage. If it was the strut mounts you'd only hear it over bumps. those are known to go bad. i've hardly ever seen a problem with the 6 cylinders internal engine components.

I have the same problem... but funny enough it is the plastic hub cover that was loose.. you could try and see if it is loose. The faster you go the quieter it gets.

i dont think it is the shock as you will hear the noise all the time as i had to replace the strut.

Another thing is that the shims on the brake pads may be loose. Tis is no problem and not dangerous as they just have a bit of play in them

Default RE: Strange noise with my ES 300

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and this is my first message about the rattling noise come from the right side ()passenger side) of all LEXUS es300. I have found that the noise come from the PASSENGER BACK SEAT. Yes, the back seat of the passenger was vibrating whenever the car is in motion or moving or when go over a bump and the dealer sometimes did not know but I just accidentally found-out about this problem since every time I drive alone hear the noise more, but when I drive with my wife on the passenger seat, it has less noise.

The problem, I think, the passenger back-seat is defected, but the dealer told me that the rattle noise will go away if I put the passenger back seat a little more straight up, not tilted it too much to the back. I did and yes the rattling noise going away.

Just let you guy know.

I can be contacted by email friendlyguy95055@yahoo.com if you need more information.

Did you take your car into Lexus for flywheel repair and how much did it cost? I'm experiencing the same problem and I dare not take it into the dealer without knowing how much of an arm or leg it will cost.
