I see you got the Alpine D class amp? Alpine MRD-301? I also am running the MRD300 and MRD301 to both 12" Alpine type R subs in a custom ported dual box.It sounds beautiful and the chics will hear you coming.....

the head unit is great. lots of feature. takes a bit of time to understand the great fine tune future it have. only one draback on this HU is that it is not color. But i am all about the sound quality than apperance. About the fuse. yeah i know, just was to lazy to cuz up the 4 gauge cable rather thant he 8, But as of right now i am saleing the amp and sub. Plan to do a flush look with more bass.

Default Fuse under your hood???

Good Job Big Puppy...

You have got a excellent write up ... would be very useful for newbies... by the way.. was wondering why you decided not have the fuse along the 4G wire that goes to your battery? did you have it elsewhere?? cause I don't see it in the picture...

Congrats.. hope you like your new system!!!

can we get some details on this install? I'm installing a carpc with navigation, bluetooth, and the works and would like some details on this tutorial.

1.
What kind of wiring harness do you need to use and where can you get one? I went to circuit city and Best buy and they both say they dont have one for it. Is is a toyota wiring harness and not lexus? They said they can also "make one" for 100 bucks which I think is a rip off and they're pulling my leg.

2.
Do you know which is the remote wire to the spedometer? My stereo now (premium stereo for 2000 es) gets louder when you get to higher speeds. I dont want to lose this feature with an aftermarket stereo/computer.

3.
Do you guys know if the cd changer in glove box will work with aftermarket and which harness to use and where to buy it?

4.
What kind of wood did u use to craft that bezel? I tried dremeling a plank of walnut and it's some hard hard wood to dremel. Oak and pine dont have the same wood marks so I know it's not that. Is it a type of burlwood?

answer to your questions.

1. i duno whose the maker of the harnes, or what kind it is. but i got it from this place here..... i told the guy my car is a Lexus es300 similar to the toyota camry, and my stero has a pre amp installed. and that i wanted a harnes w/ RCA cable so i can use the factory amp and spearkes. (whats cool is that the RCA works w/ the subwoof too! lol). Cost me 15 bucks. $15 vs $100

Shelby's Car Stereo and Alarms
3801 Cherry Ave
Long Beach, CA 90807

2. wire to the spedometer.... sorry but i would'nt know. you can try searching it on form or googleing it. but to fix your problem w/ the engine noise, you can try useing a "NOISE SUPPRESSOOR". i had 3 in my car 20 AMP each running the front, back speakers and a aftermarket sub. they helped alot. cost 15-20 each dont rember. ~when it comes to buying noise suppressor name brand does'nt matter much. the higher the amp the better ~ oppion

3. no the factory cd changer wont work w/ any aftermarket stero, and no there is'nt a harnes kit made so that it will.......... i belive.

4. noidea what kind of wood i bought, just thought it looked nice vs all i have seen. anyways i got it from a local Home Dept. i rember it costing me 6 some a ft.

good luck w/ the carpc project, i would like to see some pix cuz i was unable to finish mines. it got total
