Default How much for a new battery?

I just got bent over at Lexus, went in for a new battery, figured they could charge it up, but seeing as it's been about 4 years, I agreed to their recommendation of replacing. I like dealing with them, they're always friendly, but sure enough 140 bucks with tax and "labor" out the door. I think I saw a rate of 75 bucks at Jiffy Lube. Anyway, just curious what other rates anyone has been quoted for Lexus or non-Lexus battery replacement.

Jiffy lube is a rip off too. You could have gotten an optima red top for 130. Or a sears or autozone battery for 50-60 that would be 10x better than the jiffy lube one.

What makes the redtop so much better, more amps? Quicker starts? Longer warranty? What is the warranty?

I've been using the Diehard Gold batteries from Sears for many, many years with complete success on my Lexus's, Acuras, and Honda's. They lasted me about 7 years. I think they're guaranteed for 8 years and they cost under $80.

My battery is an Exide (by NASCAR). It costed me $80 and replaced the Lexus one last year. No problems so far, and includes 3 year full replacment and 7 year pro-rated replacement warranty.

I'm a Sear's Diehard Gold fan also. Mine is about 3yrs old and still going strong even after two accidental battery drain by leaving the headlights on.

Don't be surprised if your battery life is shortened by these accidental battery drains. I have found this to be true in my past experiences.

Yup, SLA batteries like to be kept fully charged. Deep-discharging an SLA battery not designed for such a task will most likely shorten its life.
