Default 97 ES Drivers Window control POD

Hi

Is the 97 ES Drivers Windows control POD replaceable with a 97 Camry one? Are they the same?
Anyone know how to fix the problem where the windows goes down, but to get it back up, you need to kind of hold the back of the windows switch down with effort and then flick the switch up?

This happened recently with my 97 ES.

Thanks.

It sounds like the driver switch is a little dirty/dusty underneath. I would try to take out the entire switch assy (incl. the wood trim surrounding the switch, this can be done by prying out with a flathead). Use a small brush and do some light cleaning around the wirings, and then get some contact cleaner (from Radio Shack) and finish off the cleaning. Hope that helps.

Hi thanks for your reply.

It is a bit weird, on the drivers POD.. it first happened to the passenger window switch, then the driver, then the ones that controls the back windows. Are there instructions anywhere on taking out the switch assembly? ie. screws to unscrew, panels to yank out etc :P

Thanks.

No screws to unscrew from the outside, and you don't even need to remove any door panels. All you need is a flathead screwdriver and possibly some electrical tape (to wrap around the end of the flathead). Insert the flathead around the perimeter of the wood trim of the window switch assembly and carefully pry out. It may be a bit tight at first, but it will budge sooner or later.
