Explain to everyone, "Why did you purchase or get an ES"
My main reason was I loved how it looked 8 years ago and it had a manual and I knew it would be reliable. Everything else has been a plus. I do admit the Lexus panache was a factor as well. I wanted to own a "Lexus".

pretty much for the same reasons as you minus the manual part as it wasnt offered in the 97s. before my ES i had 6 honda sport compacts and i just felt it was time for something different. i was looking at Maximas, A4s, and even Passats. what sealed the deal for the ES was the styling, reliability, and the nameplate.

The ES is a reliable 4-door sedan that has great mileage and driveability, not to mention that the engine is smooth and pretty darn quiet. The luxury part of it is a bonus

I really didn't have much of a choice. I had been wanting to buy and SC or a GS4 for quite some time, but the fund weren't there, nor were they going to be any time soon.......so I talked my mom into buying a new car, and I took hers.
Thanks Mom!!!

I bought my 2000 ES300 for the looks, styling, reputation of Lexus, and quality. Traded off a 94 BMW 540i which was putting me in the poorhouse with repairs. We had owned several Toyota products in the past, mostly Camrys and had good luck with them. Bought the 2005 ES for mostly the same reasons, but before buying it, I drove a couple of other vehicles including the VW PASSAT and Acura TL. Would have preferred to have kept the old 2000 ES versus buying either of those cars. If you have good luck with something, you usually keep coming back to it....if I ever had bad luck with a Lexus product, I might consider something different.
The 2005 has a nice finish to the interior and was an upgrade to the 2000 version....it rides effortlessly and you've got to love the heated and cooled seat option....

The reason i purchased an ES -
I used to work valet when i was a freshman in college. I remember jumping into an early model LS, maybe 90-92. I hopped in, shut the door and i couldnt even tell the thing was on. The outside sound was non existent. I wondered what the mileage was cuz i knew it was old but still mint. Looked down and was blown away with the reading of 292500. A few years later my mom and I surprised my pops with a 98 LS.
Then it came time to stick the 5.0 into the garage and make that a project car. Lexus was the only desired option for a daily driver. Plus i got a really awesome deal on it, so I couldnt refuse. I was on the hunt for about 6 months before I found it. Definitely worth the purchase. I'm interested in getting the 400h for my little sister next.
