I agree on this particular one it was a poor choice of spoiler style. Mine and Alan's (amf1932) go extremely well with the lines of the 2002+ ES.

As for the value, if you check out the price of a used Lexus on kbb.com, the spoiler actually adds to the resale value.

The entire point of the thread was that the car on ebay was smacked in the back and if you weren't savy to the placement of the LEXUS tag, then you may never have thought to check for underlying damage.

That spoiler was a bad choice, but if you have the right one then it looks very nice!

Whether you like a spoiler or not, it does serve a useful purpose. Before I had mine installed, I couldn't see the trunk lid thru my rearview mirror. Now I can get a good idea where the end of my car is, since I see the spoiler sticking up a bit.

What a hack job. Look how crooked the emblems are too.

Talking spoiler

Hey everyone interesting that the spolier issue came up. I have a spoiler on my lexus es300 1996 I am thinking about taking it off, I dont like it. I think that the car would look smoother with it off. What do u all think?!

Post a pic of your ES with the spoiler, and we'll deal in our $.02

Personally for your model year ES, it looks good without a spoiler.

HEY-HE"S GOT GOLD EMBLEMS-GET HIM j/k

I'll be the first to say it-ditch the wing and the gold. (Don't take it personal-I'm doing a gold to silver transformation right now myself)

a side view would be help, too. I am inclined to say leave it. It matches and is not an obtrusive wing type spoiler.

If you remove it, what will you do about the 4 remaining holes in the trunk?
The entire trunk lid may have to be repainted. Just a thought.

Smile why not gold

lol I dont take it personal but I notice that alot of people dont like gold trim why is that?! As steve pointed out what about the 4 holes in the trunk, it seems that it would require a bit of work to take it off and have it look like it wasnt there. But then I think and say its not a sports sedan it shouldnt have a wing lol thanks for your input everyone im still thinking, ill let u know the results.

you could do what e-man did. He found an identical car at a car lot and they traded trunk lids for free. And they did the install. They may even want your gold emblems.

BTW- looks like my es

I'm in Venice and no tints. I used to get all my cars tinted but now I like the clean untinted look.

On the trunk trade- the dealer makes out too because both the wing and the gold emblems are "upgrades" that only cost them a little labor
good luck

A guy who parks his car near my apartment every day had really bad collision work done on his 99ES300, and the rear (gold) badging says "300 ES." Not to mention, he got the front and rear bumpers painted to match the body of the car so it wasnt two-tone, but he didnt paint the lower cladding on the rest of the car to match
