Default I need an engine

Hello everyone misfortune hit me when my engine went bad on me 1996 es300.
I need to find an engine now, does anyone know where I could look for a replacement. Will the 1997 es300 engine go into the 1996 setup? thank you for your help.

Best bet is go to a nearby junkyard or salvage yard for a spare '95-'96 ES with an available engine, or go on Ebay and shop around.

www.kwcengine.com

The 97's setup is a bit different from the 96 due to the MAF intake assembly, and a few ECU changeovers, but the block is the same. All you need is a 1MZ-FE from a 94-96 ES300/Camry V6 and you shouldn't have any problems.

Why did the engine go bad to begin with Ismet?

I had same recent misfortune on my 94 (the oil sludge finally got me I guess). A local shop wanted $7K for reman with 3 yr/75K warranty - not gonna happen! I shopped around the internet and found a few sites that sold refurb/reman with varying warranties, it's up to you to find someone who will install. This one was pretty affordable www.woodfins.com , some others are www.jasperengines.com and www.atk-engines.com and www.jiffyengines.com and www.powerpro200.com and www.precisionengine.com and www.remanufactured-engines.com. These were all the ones where you could see pricing - they are many others available by yahoo/google using Lexus engine or similar terms.

I ultimately went with www.enginetrans.com , they are local to my area and are doing install of new (<10K miles) with 1 yr/12K warranty for $3500, including hoses/water pump/thermostat ... Don't know if they'll ship, but GOOD price. They may not have quote online, but definitely worth a call. They picked up car on 12/29/04 and will be done 1/4/05.

Good luck!

you can get an engine for about 600 and labor for about 1000, sorry you overpaid.

I know this kind of situation all too well (click here to read my story), and this is when extended warranty really comes in handy.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on this.

Sure, for $600 you get a junkyard engine with no idea how many miles where on it, no idea why it got there, no idea what maintenance was done, and little to no warranty on the engine or the labor. No thanks.

I'm quite pleased considering that this engine has less than 10,000 miles on it, and comes with a parts/labor warranty.

OK, I'm done.

thats cool , but the problems always occur on the 13th month.

I hope that does not happen. Good luck.
