Removing Stock Sub
Has anyone tried to remove the stock sup from the 97-01 es? I would like to remove the speaker so that pressure created in the trunk from the added sub willl be able to escape into the cabin of the car. You have to savor the outer edges of the metal surrounding the sub so that you can have mounts for the 3rd brake light/speaker cover. I planned on just using a dremmel(sp?) tool to cut the sub out of the metal casing. What do you guys think?

I have not taken out my sub but I have taken out the speaker cover in the back dash. Maybe once it's off you can see screws and whatever’s necessary to take off the speaker. Just sit in your back seat facing the back of the car and pull the entire cover straight towards you, it should snap out. Don't pull it too far because you have clips and the back light housing still connected. Then disconnect the back light and you should be able to figure out the rest....good luck!
