Default ES or RX for snow ?

Hello all,
I plan on buying either an RX or ES for the snow in NJ as the LS doesnt seem to go anywhere in snow !
i know that RX is AWD, but I have driven FWD and they are as good in snow.
my question is. if I were to get a 98 plus model ,with same miles, year and condition, which model should I opt for. RX or ES ?
i appreciate the input.

Definitely an RX! Mainly because of the higher ground clearance.

I don't plan on offroading and normal road driving doesnt call for higher ground clearance.
would that be the only plus for an rx ?
the downside i see to the rx is the instability factor at highway speeds in comparison with the ES.

HoeBag is correct.....AWD is an excellent feature to be sure & the RX is an excellent vehicle. Having said that, it's important to mention that all rules still apply whether it's an ES or RX in the end. Don't forget, that the RX outweighs the ES by several hundred pounds.......it's not as easy to stop let's say as an ES (even with AWD) & will use more fuel. So far after over a year of ownership of my 01 ES & countless snow & ice storms here in Toronto.....I have yet to say that I wish I bought the RX. Factor in all pro's & con's before making your decision for what your going to be using the vehicle for.

Definately an RX cause of the 4wd and ground clearance. The RX had no problems with traction and getting stuck in the snow. When the snow storm hit last weekend, i got stuck in the ES becuase of the low clearance and it is a lot easier to slide around in corners.

Tell me about it. I was doing it a little bit of sliding and drifting around a sharp corner on a back road on the way to work this morning. Although it was kinda dangerous (good thing there were no cars around me at that time), it felt pretty fun hehe , and I quickly learned how to properly correct the steering when my car was sliding. Note to self: Never drive the ES on an unplowed road

RX for the above mentioned reasons, however if the roads you drive happen to be plowed etc. the ES wouldnt be a terrible choice. If you choose the ES drive with a little thing I call common sense...-cough- no driving on unplowed roads -cough-
