I personally would never buy a flood vehicle. Our resident Lexus master tech also recommends against it.

Default problems with flooded car?

just wondering what would be some major problems that would occur with a 94 ES that was red tagged or flooded?

I usually attribute a vehicle with flood history to potential engine/transmission problems. That's where the big bucks are

Here's a similar thread the VVT-I (our maintenance moderator and Lexus Master Tech chimes in on)

We end up replace fuse blocks, seat motors, air bag ECU, radio and the total cost is around 11K..ouch. Lexus don't warranty flood vehicle.

So... basically anything electronic or anything metal prone to rust, in addition to the material damage (mildew, mud, etc)

From past experience...I'd have to recommend you walk away from this one if at all possible. Flood vehicles seem to have a never ending flow of electrical and engine issues.....

I go to dealer only insurance auctions & buy salvage title & flood title cars all the time, I have found that an insurance company will brand a car as flood vehicle if the water level reaches the brake pads, which would be a great buy because there would be very little or no damage & no electrical problems. If u cant see the "water line" dont buy it because u will never know how high car was submerged, but in ur case I have 3 things to say

1. That is way to much for a 94 ES with a flood branded title

2. If car was flooded high enough that radio or amp got wet, that is way to much water & u will have major interior rusting & electrical problems later on

3. everyone says walk away ....I say run away!!! RUN FOREST RUNNN!!!!
