I've seen pictures of the Japanese Windom and the Mark II, both purportedly the new ES...the Windom looks more likley to me

does anyone know which one is the real deal?

What are you talking about? The Toyota Windom is an ES300. The Mark II is not related to the Camry/ES300/Windom chassis because the Mark II is RWD where as the MCV20 - Camry/Solara/ES300/Windom are FWD. The 2002 ES300 and Camry will be getting a more powerful V6 and will be getting a 5spd automatic trans. These should be released by the end of summer.

That is not the next Windom/ES300. That is the JDM MarkII RWD. ES300/Windom/Camry/Solara will never be a RWD car. All those photos you see on busy bee and other sites are just rumors and assumptions.

They could be just rumors but who knows for sure what rumors might become?

Rumors said that the WRX will be here. Wala~.
Rumors said that EVO7 will be here. Wait a few months.

Lots of rumors regarding that the new ES300 might be replaced by MarkII not Windom. Particularily because there's only 1 picture of the new Windom. Who knows? And there are also talks that the new Camry could be RWD. That COULD be, since the Maxima and Accords will be bumped up in class.

Just....... who knows? Until the real deal comes out no one can be certain.

You are right, rumors are rumors. The MarkII is smaller than the Camry/Windom...but think about it, why would Toyota move backwards to make the bigger and better Camry/ES300/Windom chassis smaller? The ES300/Windom/Camry will never be a RWD car...that's a plain fact. The Camry is a family car and there is no such thing as 4 door RWD Toyota passenger car in the United States. The 02 Camry is already being manufactured in the Kentucky plant as we speak. Some guy who works for TMMK in Georgetown leaked information on www.camryman.org. Some sources have already confirmed that there will be a 5spd automatic for the ES300. It's too easy to find any photo on the internet and make assumptions about anything. The MarkII rumor is an old one that has been around since November.
