cool
that is interesting. I wonder when they wrote that article. Maybe if you contact TRD you will have better luck than I did. And even if there aren't any that fit, there are techies that do mods to make them fit. Good luck though! Ramsee1

No the TRD S/C will not work with ANY ES300. Please refer to the thread below:
https://www.clublexus.com/vb/showthr...5749#post55749
The S/C will fit on any 1MZ-FE but its not going to work with 97-98 ES300 and it will definitely not fit on the twin throttle bodied VVT-i 1MZ-FE found in 99-01 ES300, 00-01 Avalon, 01 Highlander, 01 Sienna and the 99-01 RX300. The S/C is only for the 97-01 Camry V6, 99-01 Solara V6, and 98-00 Sienna ONLY. The Solara's S/C costs more since they get a revised strut bar to accomodate clearance for the pulley belt. The reason why the S/C will only work on the 3 cars listed about is that the ECU and other components are not programmed to work with the s/c. None of the other computer linked components are plug and play and swappable. If you doubt me, feel free to call anyone at TRD USA here in Southern Cali.

intake
Yes the intake I have is completely custom and only fits on the ES, the difference between this C.A.I. is that the cone is not at the end of the pipe like all the other cold air intakes you will see. Having the cone at the end of the pipe defeats the purpose of forcing the air in. The AC2i intake that is custom built for the ES keeps an air tight chromed covered air filter mounted to the air flow sensor in the engine compartment, from there an air tight 3" rubber molded hose connects to the end of the filter and runs into the inner fender, there it connects to a huge 4" piping system that runs all the way to the front of the bumper and uses the gills in the lower left valence as a ram are scoop. The reason this is efficient is that the air enters about a 20 inch long 4 inch pipe with absolutely no restriction, then it turns up into the fender into a three inch wide pipe and by the time it hits the filter it is already at a high speed and runs through the filter faster then it would if the filter was the down at the bottom, because air filters alone don’t have scoops of any kind to force the air into them. This increases the speed of the colder denser air hitting your engine. Colder air makes for a denser richer air fuel mixture. This is the most efficient setup for the Es I have seen, actually it’s one of the only ones, its not like we have tuns of choices here. And yes the effect of just about all C.A.I.’s happen at higher Rpm’s and higher speeds. But so much air is available to the engine that even in city driving your ES will feel quicker and more responsive, its now going to feel like you have added nitrous but it helps!

How much for the intake? So your overall happy with it? Also... does anybody have a catback system installed? I want to keep things as quite as possible. I figure a new muffler will be quite loud. Also, does the intake louden things up a bit? Hmmm... okay... last question on superchargers. Does one exsist? At all? I was at some site that claimed to have superchargs for all Lexus engines. It was like 4 grand or so for the base package with only 4 pounds of boost.

The TRD S/C doesn't apply to ES300s. Camrys, Solaras and Siennas only. Please read the previous posts. Boost for the TRD S/C is 4-5psi. that is done for a reason so the S/C doesn't blow trannys prematurely.
For those of you that don't know what the TRD S/C looks like, here it is:
Here's the info:

Here's what it looks like on a Solara:

f.s.- Just out of curiosity what makes the camery, solara, etc so special that it gets a supercharger and numerous other mods? Just because the lexus comes with a leather interior I don't see why these performance parts aren't offered for us. And yes I know that lexus already makes other sport models, but still...

intake
I am totally happy with the intake; it helps your car perform quicker and more responsive. It only is heard under extreme acceleration, and it gives you a performance revving sound, it sounds mean! And it doesn't bother your hearing at all; it's very subtle. I will post pics of it this coming weekend. So you all can see it. It’s pretty sweet.
