I got in an accident on Wednesday! It was more that a car to me, it has been three days and I still feel like my world is ending. I am 20 and worked 6 years to get this car (all throughout high school and college) I still owed $4K on it! What am I going to do?
This is what happened...
I lady was driving wierd in front of me. We were on a 45MPH road and she was easily 5 car lengths ahead of me. I wanted to change lanes to avoid her more. I looked over my shoulder to see if it was clear and when I returned my head I saw the back end of her van coming 45MPH right at me. She was at a comlete stop and we dont know why. The cop and I asked her if she was turning and she said "no" and walked away?!?!?! Since I rear ended her it was 100% my fault. The car was totalled and I am getting $10,000 for it. After my $1,000 deductable and the $4,000 that I still owe on the car I will recieve $5,000. I love that car and I got way too attached to it, it feels like someone close to me has passed away. My fiance thinks that I am over reacting and that I am lucky. I am lucky that I didn't get seriously hurt or killed but I just got the car a year and a half ago. I worked so hard for it and babied it all the time.

I am looking for a small SUV now. I don't have much money and I am still in college. I was looking at 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee limiteds with the 5.9 engine. They seem like they are going to be too much money. Here is another concern, I got the Lex because I wanted something smooth, quite, luxerious, and most of all RELIABLE. I don't really care for american cars because they are usually not that reliable. I was something the size of a jeep grand cherokee, not too expensive though. Anyone had experience with them?
P.S. I will definitly come back the Lexus the first chance I get when I am older and have more money.

Sounds almost like a version of a swoop and squat, which is a common insurance scam that people use to bilk money out of insurance companies by deliberately causing an accident. A jackhole of a VW driver did this to me in January, but the damage was very minor.
Sorry to hear about your car. Glad you are OK.

Tis but a scratch!
That will buff right out!
ok seriiously, at least you had full coverage, i didnt when i had my accident and i have eaten over $10,000 because of it.
Look for a mid 90's 4runner. they can be had under 5K.
FWIW, i will never own a car without full coverage again.. even my lexus has it and it isnt worth that much.
how much damage was doen to the van?
Glad your ok.

My hood kind of went under the van. She pretty much just had a bashed up bumper, I didn't look too close. The thing that makes me think that she just sucked at driving was because she had 2 young girls in the van too. They were in their car seats and were fine.
