Default Free navigation DVD upgrade for 2004 ES

Got a letter a while ago, offered one free upgrade of navigation DVD, valid until Oct, 2005.

I wonder if anyone did it already, is it a lot better? Will they have newer version out before Oct? Since I think the current one is not very bad, so I can wait...unless the upgrade is really day and night.

My friend just had this done on her ES330. The reason for the free update is because of the minor imperfection on locating the destination on current Navi DVD you have. I strongly recommend you to do this upgrade since its free.

It's definitely a good idea to upgrade your software to the newest version........especially since it's free. Normally, it would cost about $375.00!!
This upgrade will give you the most current POI's and street/area locations, plus eliminating the glitch that certain people were having with their NAV.

I see, sounds a good idea to upgrade now...just called them, they don't have it in stock, they will order it for me. Anyone know what the new version number is?
Thanks a lot!

I did it. I didn't notice any difference.

One thing to be careful is that all your NAV settings will be changed after the update. They had it set to - NO FREEWAYS, NO TOLLS, NO ETC ETC - only back roads!

Of course I didnt realize this and on a recent drive to NYC the NAV kept telling me to get off at every exit on the NJ turnpike (95N)!!!! I didn't figure out what was wrong until I was 1/2 way there!

I would think the NAV would be set to "default" - with default being ALL type roads are available - but this was not the case. Anyway - be careful of this!
