Question

Ok I'm not doing that well with getting responses, but I'll give this another shot. I just got a K&N filter. Should I disconnect the battery so the computer will allow fo the difference in the intake? And on a separate note, is there anything I need to keep in mind when disconnecting the battery? Anything special need to be done? Thank you! Ramsee1

That is not necessary at all. I have a K&N Drop in filter on my 1MZ-FE V6 Avalon. The mileage has improved 1-2 mpg more overall. After the first cleaning with the K&N filter cleaning kit, you will hear an improved, more pronounced sound.

I would disconnect the battery and reset the ECU so it can adopt the new component and maybe your new driving habit. However, it's not necessary.

Red face yesssss

that's what I would think to do... I mean any little boost would be helpful. And I am sure I drive more agressively than when the computer was orginally set. So that's all then... just undo the negative for a few minutes and I'm back in business? sweeeet.

Talking

it's just a k&n filter. It is the same size as the stock but is less constricting and lets a bit more air in. And it's reusable! Just wash it out, oil it up and drop it back in. Just tell your local speed shop guy your model and year car and he'll order you one for like 50 bucks.

The motor you have in your car is the 1MZ-FE 3.0L V6 188HP.

The K&N Filtercharger drop in is a replacement filter for OEM applications. You might have a little trouble latching the box down at first since the rubber is new. You want filter number 33-2052.
