Default Not A Big Deal...

No worries. Don't beat yourself up about this. Just always keep in mind that the automotive industry has a ton of "snake oil" salesmen. I see this in performance parts, motor oils, and especially motor oil additives.

My grandfather used to be a Chief Technical Advisor for General Motors many years ago. He always said that many snake oil type products will never do your car any harm, but they will also never do your car any good.

The way I look at your thermostat situation is this: the little Japanese guys that designed your car know more about it than anyone else. So, they put the original thermostat in there for a reason. Your car (and many others just like it) have provided their owners with years and thousands of miles of driving pleasure. If it is working, don't fix it!

This is why I kind of crack up when I hear discussions on, most of all, motor oils. I am continually amazed on how some people talk about motor oils as though they themselves are a part of the engine and can "feel" what oil is best. I can tell you that I have raced Motocross, Mini-Sprints, and Outlaw Sprint Cars for many years and with all the abuse, high temperatures, and high RPMs I have NEVER experienced an OIL-RELATED failure. What is even more interesting is that throughout those years, I never used synthetic oils. Not once.

Now, having said that, I have a 2000 ES300 and I am using Mobil 1 5W-30 Synthetic. Do I need it? Probably not. However, here in Canada we get winter temperatures around minus 40 degrees. I think that the synthetic flows better during these colder temperatures.

Sorry about the motor oil tangent. The thermostat thread just got me thinking...

no need to do that. just take it back to where you bought it and tell them you changed yoru mind, they will refund you $$$. dare i ask howmuch you oaid for it? if you paid more than $11 USD you got taken...BADLY.

as for those power #'s they are a tactic that distributors like summit racing, use to get your attention. if they are legit, i can 100% stand behind that fact that they reflect the amount of HP gained at the crankshaft of your engien and not at the actuall wheels. this will vary alot. you could lose as much as 40% of your power.

yes, that means that your 210 HP ES puts down about 160 to the wheels. sucks eh?

1- K&N Air charger
2- Lower Tyres & lighter rims
both 5-10 HPs.

Imagine 250 or 260 HP on ES ?? what you think?
Summitracing told you this? They are retarded. Instead of HP's they should be CP's. You get about 5-15 CoolPoints for sparkplugs. lmao

Thank you all guys for your very kind efforts and help. However I am very disappionted, but still I saved a lot for not installing that part.

Army I paid for it 67$ and plus 62$ shipment from the US to Saudi. you are right I ve been beaten big time for this. Returing the part will coast me the same price. so I decided to frame it at home and keep looking to it to remember how idiot I was to order such a part.

Nothing left but to say thank you all guys. I really appretiate your helps.

in saudi, you do not have to meet emissions req's correct?

if this is the case the best exhaust setup for power is:

Dual headers, separate. straight pipe, separate from each header, all the way back, no mufflers or cats.
