I saw a 92-96 ES today on chrome 20 in spinners. I almost turned around to tell the guy to give up his Lexus licence.

We dont have big bodys......and its not how big you go either

I saw a maxiama yesterday on some 20 inch chrome cheapies.... that was definitley a ghetto cheezy look.

You drive a "Lexus" keep it clean.....unless you have a big body like our boy IcEnPinKi
Just got the inside pf my fenders cut off and added those black rubber things to stick between the springs( dunno what they're called) so my tires dont hit the fender. I got 20's and dunno if it was worth the trouble. Just make sure you got the right offsets and right size tires or you'll be in hell trying to go big. So far so good.

I was wondering the same thing about the size. Im honestly thinking of going with the 18x7.5 foose chrome speedsters. I think they will look great. but i really dont wanna loose all the quality in the ride i have. Also Colorado isnt the best for road quality. so pot holes and BLIZZARDS are a concern as well.

Dont mind me if i seem a bit bitter about the word blizzard. We are supposed to get 1-2' (yeah feet) of snow tomorrow. Today it was 67 and sunny.

I'm ordering 19x8 wheels this friday, I think you guys are right about the 20's being too big for the 97-01. I'll post some pics in the next few weeks also.

8.5 with a 35... youre gonna have to roll your fender a lil more than a bit.. lol

it wont cost you more, but the more you stretch it, the more you run the risk of cracking the paint

I did 19x8.5 with a 35et on a 1995 Toyota Avalon before (same chassis as the ES) and it required basic rolling. The tire design is very slim, and when teamed with rolling and a little negative camber it should be fine.

Plus the more aggressive offset and width will give the ES a very nice stance.

As for the 20" debate, I think with a 20x7.5, the right design, and a 225 tire it could look nice. (Lowering is a MUST when you put 20" wheels on ANYTHING). The reason most ES vehicles don't look so hot on 20s is because the wheels are spec for a GS (20x8.5, lower offset and 245/35-20 tires) Even a brand new ES is not meant to carry that spec, which is why Icenpinki ran into issues. Although the newest ES is a bigger car, it still has the inherent FWD limitations (offset, fender depth, etc)

Icen, get some smaller tires and that may help, also I dont know about the safety aspects of riding around with a spacer stuck in your springs! Good luck.

I did have to cut the inside of my fenders a bit and had the rubber stopper inserted between the springs. I had bought this at Autozone and they said that it wont be a problem. You can go with smaller tires as D2 suggested but I wanted bigger tires so I went with the 245-35-20's. To me it didnt look right if I had skinny tires on such a big body car. Also, D2 if you mess with the cambers doesnt this wear out your tires faster?? and also uneven tread??

You definately want camber adjustment. otherwise you are going to be burning through tires like a civic with stickers.

Would 19x8.5 and a higher offset make things easier? The fender rolling is ok, but I wouldnt really be down with the camber being screwed.
