Default What are the best HID Bulbs to buy to get the best blue effect?

Anyone have anything to offer in this area? thanks for the help.

There's a thread in the Lighting forum about some bulbs called "MTEC"... Check it out.

mtec are not hid bulbs, they are halogen bulbs that give the "hid" look. There is nothig that compares to true "HID" output.

nothing beats oem 4300k, but i wouldnt go over 6000k

whatever you do dont confuse the K rating to light output. IT referes to light temperature. There is debate in alot of cirlces that the 4300-6000 range is going to output more viseable light. I tend to agree with that, ive been in several cinematography and lighting classes and all the books are saying that is the case.


Gato your running 8500's? im suprised you dont have a blue-purple look to the light. I personally love the bright white lights. .

I have had great success with the Sylvania Silverstars prior, which I reccomend to everyone.

I looked at mine the other day and they are Sylvania but probably not the silverstars. I havent touched them since I got the car over 4 years ago. I think thats the next easy mod I will do. I just want to make sure the lighting looks as classy as possible. Im trying to avoid the rice look, especially at night.

Yeah, I've got Silverstars on my car now and am very happy with them. I've gotten a few compliments as well... It'd be nice to get actual HID's, but can't justify paying the price for it.

are the silverstars bright white? or going towards the blueish color?
