My rims are rubbing!!!!
Hi,
I just recently added 18"s to my ES 300. They look nice and all; however, they are a bit wide for the car. This actually makes them look better in my opinion.
I have a problem though. When I have people sit in the back seat. The rear suspension settles so much that the tires will touch the body of the car! Is there anyway I can stiffen the rear suspension??? Or is there anything else I could do to fix this?
Thanks,
Shalom

I have the same problem with my 97ES with my 18X8" wheels. I went to autozone and bought some spacers that raise the back of the car by prying the coils of the springs farther apart. Ever since then, i have not had any problems.

Is your tires hitting your fenders?? LIke eman said you can purchase these black rubber stopper at Autozone that you place between the springs so it restricts it from bouncing so much, It'll run you like 6-7 bucks for 4 stoppers. You can do it yourself. You just jack up the car enough that you can insert them between your springs. I had the inside of my fenders cut a bit as well. This will run you like $50-$75 bucks each fender. So far my car rides well even with 4 passengers. No more crazy rubbing sounds when I hit those wavy roads! Try it out.
i wouldnt reccomend those spacers for the springs.. theyre not safe at all
it could be a 18x7.5 but if it has like a 5+ offset, itll stick out past the fender.. offset determines everything

I have had them for 3 years taking them on and off every spring and fall. I have not had any problems and they make the rear end stiffer so there is less body lean.

usually size, bolt pattern, offset, and other information is stamped on the inside of the wheel or on the opposite side of the spokes
