Default 90K Service

Hey all, the ES is being finished up at the dealer today. She went in for the 90K service. Not that the ES doesn't run good now, I'm anticipating that it will run even better now. With the tune up, everything should be good to go! I'll find out shortly on my hour commute home today.

Did any of you guys find that the 90K service made a difference?

I have done the 90K two times (one with my previous '96, and the other with my current '01). Both occasions have left me a comforting feeling that the ES will last a long time

I do feel better now that it's done, but I guess that I just assumed that they would be doing what was called for in the service manual. I didn't ask what the 90K service included.

I had previously had the timing belt and waterpump replaced.

They charged me 530.00 to change the oil, flush the transmission (15 qts), flush the cooling system and replace the brake fluid. I almost fell over when that's all I saw that they had done. No fuel filter, air filter or tune up. It specifically states in the service manual that the spark plugs are to be replaced at 90K. I let them know that I wasn't happy about that for 530 bucks. I think that was absolutely rediculous for what I got. I doubt that I'll be using them for any other services. My only issue is that there isn't another Lexus dealer for an hour and 20 minutes. I guess that I'll be visiting the Toyota dealer.

My 90k is slowly creeping up... Only problem is that the Lexus dealer is charging me nearly 1,300!

The owner's manual will tell you what's included in the 90K service. But if you're anxious to know:

- Timing belt (and all related parts) replacement
- Water pump replacement (if necessary)
- Oil and filter change
- Transmission fluid and filter change
- Engine coolant fluid change
- Power steering fluid change
- Differential fluid change
- Brake fluid change
- Windshield wiper fluid change
- Spark plug change
- Check brake pads and rotors
- Air filter check/change
- A/C filter check/change
- If you ask first, check condition of valve cover gasket and rear main seal (common mishap on most high mileage ES)
- Align drive belts

That's all I can think of for now

Even including the timing belt and waterpump replacement at 90K, that price is way to high. Do you have a Toyota dealer near you that you could use?

There is only one Toyota dealer and one Lexus dealer on Guam. They are both the same company.

Dealer wanted 1200 for the 90K including the timing belt and water pump.

I should have gone to the Toyota dealer as they had quoted me a price of $425.00 for the 90K without the T-belt and WP, but included the tune up. I ASSUMED that for the $530.00 I was getting the tune up at the Lexus dealer as well. Live and learn I guess.

Not necesary to change out your waterpump when you do a timing belt change if you've regularly flushed your radiator. FYI.

You shouldn't pay more than $200 for a Timing Belt change, power steering and a/c belt change. There are specials at Toyota dealers here in SoCal sometimes...$80 timing belt change (but in fine print say parts and taxes extra). Sometimes you're better off buying your own timing belt, power steering and a/c belt on your own at the local toyota parts counter and taking advantage of the dealership service special. They usually make their money on the backend by charging you msrp for the parts.

I am in So Cal too.
Can you tell me which SoCal Toyota dealer has had these specials for $80?
I am up for a TB change soon.

Thanks.
