Default Need MAJOR HELP!

Well I am gonna explain my situation here.
I disconnected the battery for about 15 min and then connected it again to see if the engine check light would go away and it did. But here is where it starts. I try to back my car out after I start it and it would not go. So I turned off the car and then turned it on again. This time I try to go forward and it hesitates for a second and then I hear a LOUD POP noise from under my car. After the popping noise, the car starts moving.
This is not the worest part yet. I go to drive it around the neighbourhood, maybe for about 500 meters or so, to see how the car drives and it drives like a piece of ****!!!!!!!! It would not rev past 2,000 rpm's and after pushing the gas pedal down quite a bit, it started to accelerate really really SLOWLY!!!!!! It feels like as if the car is being choked!!!
Anyone got an incite as to what is wrong with my car?
The oil got changed 2 days ago.

Help me!!!
Thanks

135,500 km = 84,165 miles precisely.....

I only put 35,500 km or 22,000 miles in the last 2 years...

I am just praying that it is not the transmission.

its not the trans, dont worry about it. its a fuel problem, thats why your getting that pop, and then you gotta push the pedal down alot, it opens up the throttle and gets enough air in there to match the amount of fuel thats being dumped, thats why its running ****ty, because its dumping so much gas and there isnt enough air to match it. Jeeps have this problem alot. look under the hood and double check everything if ya want, but its for sure a fuel problem and not trans related or serious engine problem, for some reason its dumping fuel, can you elaborate on the problem alil more? the more we know the better, ya know? diagnosis over the internet is quite the task without having the car infront of me ya know? haha surely sounds fuel related or ignition related, somehow the mixture is coming out rich at the end of the combustion process.

Cool

I wonder if it has anything to do with the check engine light that came on originally? Perhaps it' been reset yes, but the code is still in the cars computer & there is a problem that's related? I'd have it scanned to either eliminate the problem or narrow the problem down.

Ahhhh the car runs fine now!!!
Maybe it was getting choked since I disconnected the battery for a bit??
The engine light and the traction lights both come on at the same time right now. I think the problem is with the MAF??? Maybe I need to replace that??
Anyone had a similar problem?
Usually around 80 km or 50 mph @ 4000 rpm, the car pauses and doesn't accelerate for a bit...
Anyone had that before?
Thanks

I had that problem in my 1990 ES250....

I think it stands for Electronic Fuel Injection.

well what happens is the car writes memory of the sensors and such, so it remembers everything in which case if a sensor is disconnected or inop, the car runs off stored data. and disconnecting the EFI fuse erases the data. dont be totally sure your problem is totally fixed yet though.
as far as the maf, the car would throw a code telling you there is a lean condition everywhere, in which case the maf sensor is malfunctioning or just needs a cleaning. same code will appear if there is a broken or disconnected vaccume sometimes. id say if the code comes back on, go get the code pulled from the computer by a shop, not autozone or whatever, and find out exactly what it says. the computer systems in toyota/lexus/scion are pretty well developed, a code will even appear if the thermostat isnt operating properly in alot of the cars, i dont think mine does though. and the thermostat is a mechanical device. id get the code pulled and let us know exactly what they said it is. then we can take it from there. but there is a reason the lights are on. and pulling the code is the best place to start. its odd that things like this cure themselfs. so dont be too pressed on the whole situation being over...i could be wrong though, it might have cured itself...anythings possible, ya know?

No problem, and as brute says, your problem may not be totally fixed.

unfortuantely, the EFI memory isnt erased by disconnecting the ECU. or at least it doesnt seem to be, it has to have the fuse pulled or it will not reset in my experience.

Well thanks for the great input guys!
The car runs fine right now but it still gets choked at 50 mph @ 4,000 rpm...
I guess I really need to take it to the shop and get the code retreived. I think the MAF is done. But who knows?
thanks beeeeetches!!!
