Default RPM going CRAZY!!!

finally towed my car to a pro.. cuz of some spark plug problem(https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=158027)...

they have to take off the head clyinder enorder to get to it. but anyways. after they put everything back on.. i notice one wire was broken, . so they just glue it back on. the picture below with the red circle is the wire that broke off.. anyways.. the battery was dead. so he jumped it up. the engine went crazy.. the RPM went up to around 2500 - 3000 and down to 0.. it's like someone is pushing the gas and releasing it really fast, and doing that over and over again.. would the broken wire that he glued back on be the cause of that or something he messup while putting back the clyinder??? he told me it's the cruise control wire.

It sound like a massive Vacuum leak to me. Check to see that they plugged in all of the hoses properly. It looks like that part is part of the evap system. I would look at all of the intake ducting to see if you find a rather large hose disconnected. It has nothing to do with the cruise control at all. also check to see if they sealed the intake plenum properly. They might have a wire of something pinched inbetween the plenum and manifold.

Man all those VSV switching lines are useless -- rip everything out and just run the 4 or 5 necessary vac lines as needed...

Thats the acis system vac line. you need that one. it gives you that little boost around 4k rpm.

the question is.. would the broken wire need to be replaces or would it be o.k just glue back on??.. plus.. would that be the cause of the problem?? the car accerlorate up to 4rpm and down.. over and over.. so when i want to slow down. have to put it on N to slow down. but people next to me. think i'm doing that to see if they wanna race. hahaha.. i be getting hard looks from everybody..

not sure that the vac line going to the acis would affect that -- have you inspected your throttle body and cables?

just an idea but take it to a good repair shop. The one you are using doesnt sound like they have the knowledge to troubleshoot the problem.

Mcelligett.. you're right. a hose is loss or wasn't tighten.. that's what the owner told me.. i guess the new guy that he higher was doing my car...and i asked him if he put a new gasket when he took off the head(pictured , with the number 3000) told me it was metal. so don't need to be replaces.. is that true?.. he didn't charge me or anything.. i usually go to this repair shop. and the owner works on my car with no problem. until they higher this new guy.. anyways.. another problem now.. when i put the car in P(park)... it vibrates.... man.. one problem to the next... anyone got any ideas?? would connecting the spark plug wire to the distributor cap , done wrong , to be the cause???.. anyone got a wire diagram??/..

thanks again Mcelligett and Scooter99...

the part with the 3,000 is actually your intake manifold, and removing that wihtout replacing the gasket is OK. but if you remove the lower intake manifold which is just a foot long pice of metal with 6 holes in it, you need to replace the gasket for it.

now, onto the vibration issue -- does it only vibrate in park or does it vib. while driving as well?

thanks for replying.. it vibrates while in park, stop on a red light.. and when not accelorating..today i notice that the RPM when Idle is low at around 500-600.. before it was around 800-900(almost near 1000)..

it's raining today.. when i start the car. it went up to 2000rpm and went right down and die.. had to start with my foot on the gas.. do you think it's not enought gas going in and cause the vibration in the car?? if so. what can i do??.. should i just tighten my throttle cable?? or is 600 rpm on idle normal??

sorry, i'm asking too many questions at once..

You may have a dirty IAC valve (idle air control)...

Or there might be a crack in the tube for it that goes from behind the throttle body to the rubber intake hose...

Idle should be between 600 and 750rpm when the engine is warm out of gear.

Like mcelligott said, you need to check your IAC valve. First take it off and clean it. If that doesn't solve it, you definately need to check it with a multimeter to make sure it's not totally junk.
