Aren't you afraid of dust getting into your engine... i mean you are running the car straight to the throttle body without any filters...

Woogie not at all. A rock is not going to leap into the top of the engine bay just to jump into my AFM. However, sometimes I do visit friends on extremely dusty unpaved roads. When I do that I simply take the foot of a nylon stocking, and stretch it over the AFM.

IMHO filters are very over rated. None of them improve, or reduce power measureably at all. I spent $45 on a K&N filter two years ago to find that out and it pissed me off. As soon as it dried out (about 6 months) and needed re-oiling, I ditched it.
I've been doing tons of engine work the last few months, so ditched the airbox. No power gain or lost from that either. It's just hella loud.

Don't worry.They're in better shape now than ever. Especially after the water injection cleaned all the EGR out.
