Anything that has to "look" cool, just to sell, is not a company I want to do business with personally.

i think the injen short ram intake is the best one out there for the ES/Solara rite now...its a well-known company and has been around for a while, good customer services, and gets good hp gains...even though my use with them was when i had my integra

they may be a little more than u expect to pay, but in the long run you will surely pay -off for it!

Cool

I suggest buying the coolest looking one you can find. If you're looking for a performance upgrade from an intake, you're going to be extremely dissipointed.

disagree 100% you might not gain 20hp. But your throttle response is much better and your torque on the 2-41/2 k range is noticeably improved. I drive denver, and colorado springs streets daily and also high hwy speeds. The throttle is very responsive now. Granted yeah the engine still is being cut back because of the stock exhaust, but it still does better than the stock configuration.

In a honda if you were to say the same thing i would agree. but the 1" exhaust is killing all hp that is gained by the removal of the stock intake/resonator. My friend brian felt the difference when i put on my AEM COI and wanted that same jump in performance on his accord. so he purchased the same setup. Unfortunately his exhaust is killing him. To get the improvement he wants he is out another $600 for headers and full exhaust setup.

So thats my 2 cents. I have an exhaust. and i wouldnt trade it for any other upgrade at this point.

Cool

It's your right to disagree, but I'm the only one here that doesn't mind telling it like it is when it comes to performance. You'd never see close to 5hp from an intake on anything short of a turbo, or s/c.

AFA headers, thereis no point. You're talking over a thousand USD to ahve someone fab a custom set up. For what? The 3vz-e from a 4runner has never dynoed over a 7hp gain with an intake, and it's headers done. Go to Australia where there *are* v6 headers for the big 200hp-200lb-ft 3vz and late 1mz (which, btw the headers are the exact same desine) What do they gain? 7hp.

What about the exhaust fro the cat back??? The only place it chokes is going into the ,muffler. And not even by a 1/2" inch from the 2 1/2" pipe. *real* power restriction there!

The only problems with the intake / exhaust system is the stock cat, and y-pipe.

The 2" pipes from the log style headers y-pipes all choke down to 1 3/4" right before the back flowing Y. The Y also has a pressure equilizer in it (basically a plate with holes in it to try reduce the pressure and try to even the flow between the reverse dump of the rear head).

Fab a new Y-pipe with an uneven, but unrestricted flow (2" pipes from the headers, feeding into a 2 1/2" Y) and you're looking at a 20hp gain with the deletion of the Cat convertor. At least the Y-pipe by itself gives 10-15hp, depending on how good the person building it is.

It's all price / performance. When you're talking custom headers, and intake and a cat-back, you're talking $1500 for gaining just over 10 honest horsepower. 15 horsepower max! All you've done is put a shiney header in, and make the car sound nice. Performance gains are not worth the sum of money.

that was a brand i was looking at but went with AEM, just because their customer reviews were very good. As someone who works in sales, i require that from any company i work with. Ive been very happy and have been happy with its performance increase. But as long as there are no major quality complaints and the product is shipped to you correctly, you should be fine.
