Okay now you've got me there. I don't believe that they had the Solara 1996....I got the bar for the 1998 Solara to install in my 1997. The body style changed between the 1996 and the 1997 for the ES...hmmmm...I suggest you go ahead with the suspension first...struts/mounts etc and then once it's installed...order the bar. I think you'll end up ordering one for the same year Camry from one of the online dealers...don't have much information on this since I don't have the same year car...but there has to be somebody in the forums who has a decent bar installed in their 96.

Need recommendations for tower bar / brace for my 96 ES300. Please list name, year model and where I might buy it. Also when replacing shocks do I need to replace entire strut assembly or just the shock? Thank you.

Tien S-tech's are really good. Better than the Eibach's, but slightly stiffer when you compair them.

The TRD struts are Bilsteins's. They're very good. Well sorted combined with Eibach, or Tien's.
Tokio blue's are also very good.
Behind that is about everybody else. Some struts are really good, and some really suck.
The S-techs are okay, not good. They tend to sag more in the rear than most springs other than Sprint. There aren't much strut choices for the MCV20 chassis to begin with. You're limited to TRD/Bilstein (Bilstein doesn't sell them...contracted by TRD USA to manufacture them for TRD USA) which is no longer around, Tokico HP Blue or KYB GR2's. 1.2" drop for the Camry sedan and 1.6" for the SOLARA not Solera.
