Greetings fellow enthusiasts,
I'm new to Club Lex, been tied up over at is300.net for the past year or so, but it's down, so I figured I'd come here for advice on my Es3.
I'm just past the 60k tune up. I'm just curious how much any of you paid for that service interval. A dealer in Chicago says it'll cost me about 800 bucks!!! YIKES! Seems a bit absurd. Does anyone know if you can have it done at a Toyota dealership for cheaper? And whether Lexus would honor that (warranty etc)? That'd help me, since my nearest Lex dealership is 2 hours away. Any insight would be great. Thanks![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

every little thing cost $$$
Lex dealer will cost you $800-$900 for full 60k tune up(including timing belt)
if no timing belt change needed, it will cost $400-$600.
it is a Lex you picked.

When you get your tune up Es3,make your they replace the idler, water pump, tensior pullies, and of course a new belt.Hey my LS cost me $1100 and i also replaced my power steering pump.Hey it is worth the money because the car was quite before, now it is even quiter.
The job will take a couple days to a week so you will have so say bye bye to your ES for a while.

Really our parts/service are high...
I advise you to shop around for some good shops, plus you can also use Toyota since the engine is Camary based to save a little $$$...

Thanks for the tips, wouldn't the items you mentioned by normally replaced by regular maintenance? Or would I need to specify all of this at the 60k tuneup?

My warranty is over for my LS Es3 so i do not know if these parts need to be changed, but i have a great lexus certified mech. down my street and he said that it is recommended that you change these parts about 60K but you do not have to you could change the timing belt only, but the car can be out of rythm with the new belt and older and worn out parts that the timing belt goes around, the prices he gives me are lower than the factories and plus he gives me 20% of on the labor cost!

I am a DIY guy for most of the mods in my car, stereo, lights, details, caliper painting, break pad replace, but I have never change oil myself!
what a shame. huh?
please tell me how?, is it hard to reach for the oil filter on my 96 es?
how do I find the drain under the car so that I can drain the oil?
hehe, stop laughing at me, all of ya! j/k
