You know what you're right. I could be the CV Boot because I had this problem before on my 95..it usually shows up in the winter on older model fwd cars. I also had this issue on my old 91 Infiniti G20 back in the day

Problem Fixed
I had the same problem on my 2003 ES300. I just sprayed some WD-40 on the rubber peace ( CV BOOT) above the brake pedal and the sound went away. Has been gone for over 3 months now. Try it.
