Hey there everyone. I'm new here and was wondering about your thoughts on the 1997 ES 300. I am interested in buying one, and based on what I've read and heard about it, it seems to be a dependable car. This would be my first Lexus, so I am wondering if there is anything I should know about this particular model. If anyone has one, how is it running today? Are there any major defects in the car? You know just general stuff like that. Anything helps. Thanx in advance.

I purchased my first Lexus about two years ago, it too is a 97 Es3. I have had great luck with the car. I bought it pre-owned certified and did have a slight problem with the heated seats, of course everything was done under warranty. Email me with any further questions, but for the most part I think you'll be quite satisfied! ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I just bought a used 97 ES loaded and it looks brand new at 71,000 miles. Formerly owned by a large church for the minister...I kid you not. It is the sweetest car I have ever owned. I have a new RX-300 I bought a few months ago and it too is a great car. Aside from any unusual abuse you should not go wrong buying one used. I bought mine from a local whole seller though Ebay motors. Great experience!
If you buy a used ES300 with over 60,000 from a source other than Lexus preowned make sure the car has had it's 60,000 mile service check. It's an expensive one. Up to $1200.00 at Lexus. The timing belt and other critical engine parts are replaced which makes the service expensive. This is the first question I asked.
Good Luck!
