track off/check engine light
#1
whats up with my 2000es
My trction off light doesn't turn off on my newly acquired 2000 es 300, also my check engine light stays on.The previous owner just had the transmission serviced ,the car is going in five days from now for the 90k timing belt service but I fear there may be a serious problem and if I drive it before the service I may damage the car. So I found out that shift cylinoid c&d have already been replaced, but I am still getting code P0768 which reads shift cylinoid/emc/tmc and wiring. Also my track light and check engine light are turning on and off.If there is a cylinoid that controls traction control which one is it or should I replace all of them? Or could there be a loose connection that is causing this problem?

For me, on a 99, it was an o2 sensor that the dealer changed for me. It would've been ok for me to keep driving. Since yours in going in soon, have the tech do a computer diag.
Whether you can continue to drive the car before it goes in....i dunno.
Also do a search for the issue.

Domenic is right. The 'TRAC OFF' and CEL lights on usually mean it's a safety/emissions warning. You can continue to safely drive your car after those lights come on, but be sure to get the error codes diagnosed.
I had this happen to me in my '01 ES, and it turned out that the charcoal canister (located in the fuel system) was going bad and needed to be replaced. Lexus may charge a diagnostic fee of $85 or whatever is the labor rate usually charged, but they did it for me for free

The trac light sometimes will not turn off and the traction control is not engaged. Then it will go off on its own and the tractioon control will then begin working.
I had the same problem in my SC 400 but it went away on its own.
Dunno.
