Thanks!
I remember reading somewhere the filters were removed at the dealer when original owners neglected to service them and complained of musty smells from the A/C. If I'm not mistaken it may have been an official Technical Service Bulletin.

Default Es300 cabin filter

Anyway, I just wanted to add some info on the filter itself....I ordered both of these cause I didn't know what was what. One is a deodorizing filter (dark) and one is simply a filter (white). I installed the deodorizing filter and it doesn't smell at all in there!

88880-33020- FILTER SUB-ASSY, CLEAN AIR => w/deodorizer ~$45
88880-33040- FILTER SUB-ASSY, CLEAN AIR => ~$35

BTW - I had a few pics on this DIY too but your pics are much better than mine, good job .
I purchased mine on amazon for $15

Filter is a filter, there is no need to go with OEM, especially for that kind of price. You can get a Denso filter for about $10 on RockAuto, and it claims to filter out particles as small as 0.001 micron, and have a charcoal filter, so that's what I would go with.. Just make sure that it is not an utter garbage that may fall apart in your hands, and it should last for some time..

Hope this helps and best of luck!
