Squeaking '03 ES Engine
Noticed that once in a while, I can hear this squeaking or soft whistling sound coming from the engine near the alternator area. Thought it was the belt and figure I let the Lexus guys check it out.
Dropped it off this morning and by mid-afternoon, Lexus called saying that the noise was coming from the timing belt. They removed the upper cover and cleaned the belt and the sound went away. Also, they said that there was something wrong with the battery, the invoice states "engine does not start" and "open circuit". They replaced the stock Panasonic battery with a 7 year AC Delco. Since the car was only 2 years old and 22K miles, everything was covered under warranty. Service was great but would have been excellent if I got a Lexus loaner rather than a Toyota Camry.
Any 02+ owners with a similar problem (with the engine, not the loaner)?
