Sunroof leaking constantly...
Has anyone else had this problem? It appears the part is $700 (rubber seal) by itself without installation. I am not 100% sure though it is the seal. The seal still seems pliable and not cracked. The track seems fine. No wind noise. When you push up, it does not move.
Any other thing I can diagnose?
Moreover, any other places in the Northern VA area I can take it to that won't charge me an arm and leg to get it fixed? This fix is a bit out of my league.
TIA

If you really get to looking at it, they don't seal 100% anyway. It's designed so that any water that leaks in, escapes through little tubes that run down through the body to the underside of the car.
My bet is that one of the tubes is plugged, causing the water that leaks in to back up and drain into the cab.
Toyota was so much smarter than everyone else LoL! While everyone else was busy trying to design a seal that was 100% epfect over the life of the car, Toyota just turned around and said F it. We'll make our seal last forever, but always leak a tiny bit, and we'll just drain that away!

Every car manufacturer has drainage tubes. No one would be stupid enough to try to design water-tight seal that constantly opens and closes.
When I say no one, I do not mean Chrisler. They actually are stupid enough to do something like that.

And Ford, and Honda, and BMW... That's just first hand experiance. Toyota "got it" years before anyone else.
How many non-Toyota sun-roofs leak at 200,000 miles? OK, now name any Toyota designed sunroof, say past 1985 that has any historical problem with leaking. 'nuff said.

I do not have a first-hand experience with honda or ford, but GM definately had drainage as early as 83 - my 83 buick lesabre...
However, in many other respects, toyota is head and shoulders above the competition. That's why I own one.
