Default Over reacting?? Got problem..plz help???

Ok....
I think I am just a lil too picky or I over react alot...but this scared the crap out of me on friday...
I was standing still at a red light..... the light turns green and off I go, but hold on a second....this car is BARELY moving......it was struggling to move off the line ...
I was doing about 15 mph and the rpm was around 3,000 already and its revving even higher with barely any noticable difference in acceleration....
This happened for about 2 or 3 minutes and then it was back to normal....
I even went about 75% full throttle and still no go...mind you, i had 3/4 tank full
Now should I be too worried about this? Cuz I honestly thought that my tranny was GONE!!!!!!!
Anyone got an input on this?

Did you just start the car? This happens because it warms up the engine once it's first started. It's really annoying and I wish there was a way to change it, but my car does the same thing yours did.

I was driving for about 5 minutes.... then I came to a red light. I stopped and then when the light turned green, I had a really hard time moving the car. This went on for 2 minutes and then BAMM!!!! It was working like a charm the next second...
GO figure!!!
And it was a really hot day

Hmmm... That's how mine started. Just the same. Mine is sitting at the lexus dealership at this moment. They said my problem is the transmisssion. Thing is, after they (lexus) put another one in and I pick my car up, not even 15 mins later it's doing the same thing again! So I take it up there again ands they keep it for a few days and says nothings wrong, they drove it about 200 miles and pretty much says I'm losing it. Well I pick it up again and about 3 miles down the road it does ia again so back I went and they saw that it wasn't running properly and finally after a week, they call 4 days ago to tell me that it's the new transmission they put in. What the hell ever. I think it's a sensor gone bad. But yeah, before it has done this and then wouldn't for a long time then all the sudden it strats again(and it's hot here too) and the CEL and O/D light comes on and this is what those Lexus people say is wrong with it...

I believe it is the case of the sensor gone wrong also!!!
I hope it is not a transmission!!!! Or my dad is gonna **** bricks!!!! LOL

The exact same thing happened with our Chrysler van aboue 3 years ago....
The transmission of that van was replaced just @ 40,000 kM!!! ie. 24,000 miles UNREAL!!!
Then the same thing happened at 110,000 km, so we replaced the transmission AGAIN and the transmission kept screwing up..... so ended up getting rid of it!!!!

I think I might tell my dad to get rid of it before it starts bothering us!!!
Heck.. the transmission for the ES must be around $2,000 US?? or more?

Funny thing is that I dont drive that car hard... maybe I'll give it 75% full throttle from time to time....
But I dont floor the crap out of it every day....

Cool

Flush the transmission fluid before you completely wear the clutch packs out.

Cool

^Mindless, unsubstantiated idea fed by brainless mechanics.

What's harmful is leaving bad fluid in. You can't troubleshoot a transmission with possibly low, or bad fluid.

It is physically impossible for gunk, and other miscallanious crap be helpful to a transmission in any way.

Uhhh yahh...
Here is an important update...
This is what I've noticed...
The car does NOT shift in last gear!!!
On the highway...when I am doing 50 mph, the rev is at 3,000..
when I am doing 62 mph, the rev is at 3,500
when I am doing 70 mph, the rev is at 4,000
Hence, the transmission is not shifting to last gear.....
So it is safe to say that this tranmission might give in any coming day!!
I dunno what to do
I dont want the transmission to fail on me and then have to spend somewhere around $2,000-$2,500 to replace it....
Any suggestions are welcomed...
The car only has 85,000 miles...
Thanks

Iron, the revs are apparently too high at the speeds you indicated. It almost sounds like there is something electrically wrong with the transmission. Quite possibly a solenoid or two is about to malfunction, and will cause mis-shifting of the tranny. Some of us '97-'99 ES owners have started to notice this similar problem, esp. as the car ages and the miles are higher. Get the transmission checked out ASAP.

Well my dad just drove the car and he said its FINE!!!
The rev at 50 mph were about 1,800 rpm...
I'll see what happens tonight when I drive it...

Cool

Overdrive gears are also always locked out until the engine begins to register coolant temperature. It unlocks the gears normally at 120*F.

Sorry to hear your troubles.

Okalie Dokalie!!!

So now the car occasionally shifts into last gear and sometimes it doesn't...

I guess I'll just have to live with it since my dad thinks it is just FINE!!!
