15 hour trip and 30mpg
Hey all,
I've had the car for just over a month now. I absolutely love it. The luxury and finish of the car is great, and it's much more friendly to daily drive than my cobra.
I just wanted to post after taking my first trip. Anyways, I drove from Athens, GA to Stillwater, OK. Trip ended up taking nearly 15 hours! Very comfortable and relaxing. I called a few people and they didn't believe I was driving because it was so quiet.
What's even better is the gas mileage that I got. I was driving about 82-85mph most of the way, except when I got caught in traffic or in a construction zone. Even with a few 30 minute 90mph+ runs, I averaged 30mpg for the entire trip, even with the a/c on.
I'll have a full detail coming up in the next few days. SSR2 via pc, S100 SEC, platinum, etc.. I don't have access to a camera, but it should be nothing short of a mirror.
I also plan to upgrade the brake pads and fluid. I was wanting to run hawk pads as the brakes seem a bit weak in these cars. Has anyone tried the valvoline dot4 fluid?
Btw, who has taken the longest non-stop trip in their lex?

I did a Birmingham, Al to Louisville, Ky trip in my 1993 ES in 2003.
400mile trip one way.
Long story, you can search if you wanna read about it. The short version.
Going up, most of the time had the cruise control on 100-120mph. Only time under that was going through Nashville's early, early morning traffic, and when the GF was driving (she was doing 90 while i napped). Oil cap blew off the valve cover coming back just before bowling green. It was imbedded in the hood insulation LoL! (See Lexus doesn't leave you stranded!)
Was stopping at the vette museum anyways, so bought the most expensive quart of oil EVER! RTOFLMAO! Rest of the trip home was 70-80mph, minus grid locked Nashville traffic (semi-truck decided to flip a half hour before we got there!)
That aint close to one mile trips tho. If you search, a few guys have done 1,000 + mile trips one way. Less eventful than my "short one", but obviously the rate of movement was much lower! LoL!

That sucks about the oil cap, but like you said at least you weren't stranded. Lol, at the most expensive quart at oil.
What detector are you using? I'm using a k40 and I love it. It picks up signals before my friend's passport 8500 and older v1 (like a 01 model).
I agree, long trips at 70mph are just too boring.
