Hey CL members, I'm having problems with the auto light kill when you open the doors. The headlights are supposed to turn off when the car is turned off and you open the door. Well its not, and sometimes the door ding doesn't ding when the keys are in the ignition. I know these are all minor problems now, but will they end up leading to more electrical problems. Thanks.

Check to make sure that the door light switch works properly when you open the driver side door. There is a small metal piece under the rubber boot. This should move outward when the door is opened, but they can hang up. Proper activation of this switch is apparently what activates the headlights out control.

These switches are very problematic in the mid-90's LS models. Usually, the problem can be fixed by pulling back the rubber boot and spraying some WD-40 on the switch mechanism.
