More pics...
Lens without diffuser/orange peice
Just before resealing...
Done!
The evil orange piece
Some people placed an extra diffuser next to the clear plate, but In the 00-01 es 300 lights, they had reflectors, so i decided to not add it to kepp the 'see through' look. While it is an improvement over the orange lense, to make it better, I would add reflectors to the back of the housing rather than add a diffuser to keep the 'clear' look like on the newer es's tail lights.

I would pay someone $50 to do it for me, but then again, I could do it myself... But I don't want to go through the melting stuff. The headlight mod was already enough for me.

when i did the headlight clearing, i found it incredibly hard to pull apart when you set the oven temp. to 200 or 225. I must've did it like 15 times. It was such a ***** to pull it apart, the glue dried too fast.
Then on the second headlight, I did 250 with 5 minute sessions each....took like 3 or 4 times. Much easier than 225.
Make sure you seal them back correctly with sillicone. My headlights got alot of condensation since i did it. I need to redo them again when it gets warmer.
Next time i think ima try 275, 5 minute sessions

I set my oven at 250 at first and it melted the top of my first tail light
Haha I must have taken at least 25 times to heat up/pry apart the tails.
Also, to seal the headlight, I found a glue similar to the oem glue at homedepot that gets soft when heated. I think these will seal the lights better than silicone.
Time to bake the headlights

I didn't replace the orange peice with anything.
I didn't want to put a diffuser so close to the clear lens, b/c I wanted to copy the look of the 00/01 es's lights with the reflectors.
I'm going to endup sticking a reflector in there sometime and remove the ugly diffuser.

so you just take out the orange and it looks like your finished product?
what's a diffuser?
what's a diffuser?
(If you look at the pics) you can see i painted the frame that holds the orange peice silver to match everything else.
1.Bake
2. Pry
3. Take screw out (holds the diffuser frame in) BTW Diffuser spreads the light around)
4. unclip the orange peice and white diffuser piece
5. spray paint the frame silver (its orange in color)
6. put back together.
I think I'm going to do my headlights this weekend and also take some pics

This must be an old post, but how come this image of the tail light is really see through in the middle where the old orange light was?
And this one isn't?
You say you didn't put anything in like a diffuser, than why is it all white looking? You didn't spray paint the actual plastic ofthe light did you?
