Why does it suck...it won't kick down as easily as normal linkage?
On the drive back to the dealer today, I will have to mash the crap outta the pedal and see. Damn the luck.

Pedal worked okay for me.
Another cool thing...those ventilated front seats...wooie, those things are way cool. Cold air blowing in the nether regions is the coolest thing (literally) here in AZ.
Best kept secret, I'm telling you.
I can see there's a lot of support for the ES, eh?

The RX330 and the Camry have the same issues.

To clear up any confusion, the "drive-by-wire" issue was first noted on the 2002 ES300 when the 5-speed automatic transmission feature was first introduced. This was completely new to the ES model at that time, and as expected, a lot of owners and customers complained about the functionality of the transmission.
If you go to the following link below, you will come across information about a transmission software update Lexus dealers are offering as a free recall-type service to their customers on their 2002-05 ES. It seems that most who have done the update reported better results.

My daughter promptly scrambled from the backseat into the front while we were rolling down the road when I blurted out that there was cold air coming from the seat!

Funny thing...I drove a MB C240 for 4 days while my wife's E320 was getting warranty work done, then drove the ES330 for 1 day while my GS300 was getting windows tinted. No comparison between the 2, the ES kicks the C class' *** all over the tarmac. My daughter now insists the car for her is the ES in 7 years when she's of driving age. Guess I better save my pennies.
