body shop said no way to match tire tread, but insurance won't allow replace 4..
Wife had an accident, left front tire broken. The other party's fault.
But the insurance company (Nationwide) won't replace 4 tires.
What can I do? Can I insist in 4 matching tires? Or let the body
shop find a close tread/other brand tire?

Uh. The insrance company is liable to pay/replace anything damaged with something of equal value. They're not going to buy you 4 tires. They'll buy you one.
Just match your axles. (New tires always on the rear axle, regardless of a drive axle.)
