ok i ordered a set of Tokico hp shocks
im not sure if they are just shocks or shocks and struts
the #'s for the parts are for both shocks & struts, struts, or shocks
im not sure

I used to have those blue tokicos on my `97 es, its struts all the way around.

well here's the problem
i was ordering shocks, planning on ordering struts later
but i wouldnt mind if they were a combo
they make both shocks and struts of the blues though
the place where i bought em (racing lab) said they were shocks
so if they give me struts only there will be hell to pay
wonder what they would do if they sent me struts and i complained?

wait a minute.......... strut/shocks.... isn't that the same thing?

your car has struts and then you got the springs that go on top....... I always thaught they referred to them as shocks as well

Shocks are independent from the springs (mounted separate from the springs).

most trucks use shocks.

I think the seller confused the 97~01 with the older ES's (not sure exactly which year) where the shocks are mounted inside the strut housing...hope that made sense.

Your `01's suspension its pretty much like the `97 (mine), which uses struts (spring mounted on strut).

Lots of info on struts / springs on all the major forums. CL, LOC, ToyotaNation, Solaraguy, AF.
& dozens of others. I'm sure you won't need much luck.
