Default A very sad day for a Lexus owner...

I was driving in the south bound lane of 575 today, when out of nowhere some idiot in his Sable crossed the median from the north bound lane and slammed into the rear quarter panel of my car. He successfully tore the bumper off, bent in my left-rear wheel, did extensive body damage, and possiable broke the rear axle. I was unable to drive my car away from the accident, she is currently sitting in some podunk towing companies parking lot.

After being hit, I approached the gentlemen responsible for the accident and asked "you do know you hit me, right?" he looked stunned..."did I?" HOW THE HECK DO YOU NOT KNOW?

His story changed multiple times, however in the end he was cited for the accident. The great part was he the challenged the officers as to how it could possiable be his fault! Unbelievable...

His insurance company called me later this afternoon and told me they would be out first thing in the morning to access the damage. They then graciously rented me a standard car The man on the phone told me I might not get the repairs to my car, rather a check for the value of the car as the damage sounded very extensive. He said that with Lexus automobiles though you never know. This, he said, was due to them holding their value very well, and obviously for being such great cars.

So we will see...I may be in the market for a new vehicle. This was truley a very sad day for this Lexus owner...

::edit:: KBB says my car is worth roughly 10k, so it may be fixed after all! ::edit::

Just as an FYI, you don't have a real rear axle, only rear hubs. FWD, FF chassis!

But daaaaamn that accident must've sucked.

sorry to hear about this accident hottness. I too was hit a few weeks ago, a hit and run!
If the insurance does decide to fix the car you have the right to take it to who ever you want. You should definitely take your baby to the dealer and they'll bring it back to as good as new status
good luck!!

Sorry to hear about the accident, but good thing the police report find that party #1 is at fault, and that his insurance will be responsible for fixing up your car (if it's not determined as totaled). Keep us updated.
