Personally I'd go with the apexi world sport cat back, which as far as I know would be a direct bolt on for the 97 es, someone correct me if Im wrong. Its not a bad deal for a catback and it should be the sound your looking for. Thats what I'm switching to for my exhaust system.

Well, with the exhaust completely off of my car from the cat back right now, I can tell you the ES does actually have a pretty powerful sounding engine. It's just a matter of making it sound nice without sounding too loud and ricey.

I heard the air filter on the g35 actually makes a big difference on the way it sounds... not sure if it's true or not. When I had an intake ghetto-rigged on the ES the car did sound very different

Do you have an SC300 or SC400? My SC300 5spd with intake and stock exhaust has never sounded anything remotely like a g35 lol

Cool

Word. Exhaustless is loud. Here's the old MP3's from when I frist got that first turbo running. It was so rich it would bearly idle.
Compressor side
Turbine side
That was only getting up to a few thousand rpm. Yall don't wanna know how loud it is when your run just headers.
Idling is atleast twice as loud as having a y-pipe is.

V's are cool sounding, I's suck LoL!

I'm starting to think that what I planned on above may be too loud for daily driving around here... being 18 I get messed with by cops a lot the way it is, a few people have me convinced that having anything slightly loud would just be more reason to pull me over.

I'm thinking 2.5" piping from cat back with spiral flow resonator and stock type muffler may give it a slightly nicer sound at high RPM, yet not be loud at all

You're never going to be happy with the stock exhaust & everything before the muffler doesn't make that much difference in exhaust sound. The cat, y-pipe, resonator, headers. They can change it, but it's just not that much.

No, noone currently makes headers for the car v6's. There is very low demand & the power gain suck comparitively. Make them yourself, or pay out the *** for custom.

You wanting the looks, or a little power gain?

i was hoping to get a some more power with the headers cuz i already got the intake and exhaust all thats missing is the headers but o well i dont have a big enough *** to pay out of for custom stuff but id still like to make it sound better if possible. i just have the 3" from the stock cat back to a magnaflow street muffler which is straight through, and i think the guy didnt really understand what i wanted or know wtf he was doin. He also said he hollowed out my cat or some sht which i nvr told him. he thought i just wanted some good flow but id rather have a good sound. what should i do? thanks

Question

just wondering, what would a high-flow catalytic converter do for me
i'm guessing that they are extra restrictive since its a lexus
and how much do they run for?
i can weld it in myself, might get a new muffler while i'm at it

Depends on what condition the stock cat is in, but normally worth about 5bhp peak. More if they're really clogged.

I would skip headers. They're costly & just don't do enough power wise to be worth the cost unless you, or someone else can make them by themself.

Well, I think that there literally is no BEST exhaust, but if you wanted a quiet exhaust, just get one with a silencer. And if you wanted the sound back, just take the silencer out.
