Problem with the rear warning light indicator
Got a question I can't seem to figure out. My rear warning light keeps coming on, but only when the headlights are turned on. I double checked all the fuses and bulbs and everything seems to be kosher. Perhaps something is wrong with my electrical system. I'm out of ideas on this one, can anyone help?

Triple-check your tailight bulbs (both from the trunk lid and the corner lights, there are a total of 8 in your '97 ES) and make sure their filaments are intact. Might want to also check the license plate lights, though I don't think they are connected with the warning light indicator. If all the bulbs are OK, then check the socket connections with the bulbs. Possibly the contacts are slightly corroded and don't ensure a clear electrical connection.

there are 3 wires connected to each bulbs (1157)... one high and one low and the other is ground.... if one of the wires are shorted... you'll recieve a warning check light.
when i mean High (stepping on brake)
when i mean low ( parking light normal state )
ex. all bulbs works... but when you step on the brake have you notice 1 or more is slighty dimmer then the other?
reason is.... because not all connection is completely circulating back. the check light comes on...
things u can try?
1.check each bulbs mainly 1157....
2.check to see if the 2 bottom metal are touching the socket.
3.check to see if any sockets are dirty. this can cause no contact.
4.have someone step on the brake to see if all brake light comes on HIGH.
if, 1 or more doesn't. try moving the bulbs/wires around to see if it comes on HIGH. by moving i don't mean pull or yank the wires.
4.1....in case you don't have anyone... get a broom and use the power seats to hold the brake down with the broom.
if your doing step four and a bulb happen to light up HIGH and 1 or more light up LOW... then 1 or more wires are not making a complete circuit.
mostly the main cause of this is the connections to the sockets are corroded....

Hmm, I'll give that a check man, thanks!
I know everything including reverse lights, license plate lights, dual-filament brake highs and lows are working. Perhaps the issue exists within the aforementioned.
