Default Quick Signal Question

Hi, my right front signal is not working but the bulb is good so i am currently in the process of trying to fix it. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the flasher goes in a 96 es300?

thanks

Instead of the flasher, I would suggest that you first check the bulb socket as the possible cause of your problem. The front turn signal sockets on the mid-90's ES models are notorious for causing problems. The usual problem is fast blinking bulbs, but I would guess that the problem which causes this could also cause bulbs to not illuminate at all.

Get a multi-meter and check for voltage in the socket when you turn on the turn signals. If you get voltage, do two things. First, clean the contact points where the bulb contacts the socket. Second, clean the contact points around the perimeter of the socket where the socket contacts the car body. All of these contact points are subject to corrosion, and this affects the continuity of the circuit.

Another thing to do is to bend the contact point at the bottom of the socket upward so it fits tighter against the bottom of the bulb.

I would think that if the flasher is at fault, the turn signals on both sides would be affected.

Cool

Werd. Also keep in mind both the front & rear bulbs are dual filimant so they can look OK, without being OK. Change both the bulbs. A 2 pack is only a couple bucks.

For that matter, you can change every marker/signal bulb on the car for like $20. Foglight & headlights would cost another $10-12.

Default quick signal question

hi CUMan,
Your suggestions were right on the money. After testing for voltage and continuity, I did a little cleaning with very fine sand paper on all contacts and voila! the blinker's good as new.
Thanks (thanks to the other respondee, too.)
