Angry New used Lexus - big problems

I bought a certifed preowned es 330 2001 with 42,000 miles about six weeksago. I brought it in a month ago because of a small oil leak. They said the rear main oil seal was leaking oil. They also found three exhaust bolts to be broken. I was told the tech replaced the main oil seal and the threebroken exhaust bolts. After I had the car back for a week I found it was slowly leaking oil again. I took it in again and now they are telling me they need to replace the engine block!

I am really worried I have a lemon. Does anyone have any guidance on what questions I should ask the dealer or suggest next steps I should take? Thanks in advance.

IMO its simple... take the car to the dealer and have them fix it... from what it sounds they're going to give you a new engine under warranty and you should get a loaner car while is in the shop.

I'd take it in to get replaced in a heartbeat. Instant new motor

Just curious, are you in the Chicago area? If so, what dealership are you going to? As Dave said, let them replace the engine. That's one of the reasons you bought a CPO car -- if anything goes wrong, you're covered. Now, that being said, I'm sure had you known this was going to happen, you wouldn't have bought the car in the first place. However, CPO cars undergo a pretty extensive inspection/replacement process, so unless there's some funny business going on here, it sounds like it's just one of those things. Let us know how it turns out for you.

Did you check your car's history at carfax.com? I know it's not 100% but you could find something there.

Its always good to check, however its very unlikley that it would be a CPO car if Lexus knew something had happened to it, they'd sell it without the CPO or auction it.

I agree.

I owned a CPO 92 SC400 from '94 - '97 and no matter what goes wrong it will be fixed. Please let us know what dealership you're working with. I have been to all Chicago-area delaerships & the best are Bredemann (Glenview...the best delership in our area bar none) McGrath (Chicago and Westmont), Highland Park, and Arlington are good. But by all means make sure to skip Naperville & Woodfield.

BTW does anyone in the Midwest (Chicago or not) know any solid shops that work on Lexus (non-dealership obviously ) I want to do some performance stuff, but rarely have the time.

Thanks all. It would be really cool if all ClubLexus members could gather at one location, wouldn't it...probably pipe dream since most are CA or FL
