I was cut off on the highway by a driver that was far too drunk to be anywhere near a car.

I was doing atleast 15 mph faster than he was when he jerked into my lane no more than 12 inches from my front bumper, slamming on the brakes wasn't quiet enough to keep me from a slamming into him.

Luckily 2 people pulled over and offered to stay as witnesses, police arrived and realized I had absolutely no cause to the accident.

Another lucky break for me, his insurance is paying for pretty much everything...

The radiator is fine (extremely suprised), his trailor hitch was centimeteres away, the hood is basically gone, front bumber cover gone, driver headlight gone.

Thats about it, nothing damaged steal-wise so I'm all good there

ouch. Could have been worse being that the other driver was drunk. Hope everything works out for you.

Very good... I had a near identical collison on my ES' (in terms of the pics). My hood & bumper actually looked slightly better, but radiator ended up cracking & leaking all the coolant. Hence, I couldn't drive it. My headlights were spared, as was bumper (just needed some bondo/paint). It ended up costing $3-4k initially. But there was burning coolant smell always for a few weeks, and no idea where/what was happening. Had to replace the radiator again, but this time the repair guy inadvertantly damaged the fan assembly and thermostat (I assume that area). So the ES'es temp. gauge all of a sudden would spike and I'd pull-over stressed out like a mo'fo. Again, couldn't find the reason, so kept driving w/ caution for a few weeks. Once in awhile, would have to pullover due to engine temp. as per the gauge. Well, finally it had taken it's toll, I believe head gaskets blown due to ineffective thermostat failing to turn on the fan when needed. So about another $2k-$2.5 was spent on the second radiator swap, hoses/lines, fan/shroud, and then head-gaskets... in addition to the initial $3k-$4k.

Engine is still as strong as ever, 148k miles! (the above happened in '98 w/ 50k miles)

Though my hood doesn't align w/ the release-latch idealy; the latch needed to be tweaked to accomodate the hood. Yes, once on a trip from PA to FL, I was passing through SC and the hood flew up on I-95. Scarey-****...
