It depends on how you want to look at it.
The ES is a stretched Camry chassie, the Avalon is a stretched Camry chassie... Just different
'97 Avalon
-External dimensions: overall length (mm): 4,831, overall width (mm): 1,786, overall height (mm): 1,440, wheelbase (mm): 2,720, front track (mm): 1,549, rear track (mm): 1,519 and curb to curb turning circle (mm): 11,460
'97 ES 300
-External dimensions: overall length (mm): 4,831, overall width (mm): 1,791, overall height (mm): 1,394, wheelbase (mm): 2,670, front track (mm): 1,549, rear track (mm): 1,501 and curb to curb turning circle (mm): 11,186
Buy the ES 300, it's a better car & you'd never know the difference except that the Avalon uses the Camry suspension & steering instead of the ES/Windom one.
